Electric Vehicles Continue to Dominate Norway's New Car Market, Accounting for Over 98% in February
In early January, foreign media reported that electric vehicles accounted for 96% of the nearly 180,000 new cars registered in Norway last year.


Entering 2026, electric vehicles continued to firmly hold their dominant position in the Norwegian new car market, accounting for 95.8% in January.


According to the latest reports from foreign media, the market share of electric vehicles in Norway further increased in February, exceeding 98%.


Foreign media cited data from the Norwegian Road Transport Information Council, stating that 7,272 new cars were registered in Norway in February, of which 7,127 were electric vehicles, accounting for a high proportion of 98.01%. Gasoline-powered and hybrid vehicles accounted for less than 2%, far lower than electric vehicles.


The reports also noted that in February last year, electric vehicles accounted for 95% of the Norwegian new car market; this February's 98.01% represents both year-on-year and month-on-month increases.
