On December 9th, Gartner predicted that the number of electric vehicles (including cars, buses, vans, and heavy-duty trucks) in use globally will reach 116 million by 2026.
Jonathan Davenport, Senior Research Director at Gartner, stated, “Despite US tariffs on imported vehicles and the elimination of electric vehicle purchase subsidies by many governments, the number of electric vehicles in use globally is still projected to grow by 30% in 2026. China is expected to account for 61% of the global electric vehicle fleet by 2026. As consumers increasingly value the peace of mind of having a readily available backup gasoline engine, the global fleet of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) is expected to grow by 32% year-on-year.”
